Along the way, you’ll hear fascinating stories from the making of the film as well as legends from the Kalevala itself. The experience is crowned by a unique museum room, designed directly from the original movie set, bringing the epic world of Kalevala to life before your eyes.

Experience the thrill of speed on a trendy Coopop electric vehicle! Led by our guide, we will travel along a shore path to the Puu-Nurmes, an idyllic residential area in the heart of Nurmes and one of the best preserved wooden house areas in Finland. The museum features several exhibition floors and digital experiences that explore regional heritage, architecture and local stories.

The North Karelia Martta Association’s Karelian pie workshop allows visitors to learn how to bake traditional Karelian pies with local instructors. Participants shape and bake the pies while learning about their cultural background.

A Karelian pie is a traditional Finnish pastry with a thin rye crust and a rice porridge filling, usually served warm with egg butter.
