Welcome to Espoo! A city of nature, experiences, and innovations welcomes you for a summertime visit!
The city is part of the metropolitan area and a second biggest city in Finland. It is easily accessible from Helsinki City Centre and Helsinki International Airport. Espoo is like Finland in miniature: In the south of the city, you can enjoy the delights of the coast and archipelago, cultural and other events, and shopping. In North of Espoo, you can experience the countryside, lakes, and the wilderness in Nuuksio National Park.
Awarded with ‘City of Design’ status by Unesco, Helsinki is a modern city that offers functional design, unique gastronomy and maritime appeal. The capital of Finland is filled with lively events all year round, but the peaceful archipelago and green forests are only a stone’s throw away and can be easily reached by the efficient public transportation system.
Lahti, the European Green Capital is the first real lakeside city you come to after departing from the capital Helsinki. The Lahti region offers a wide range of nature activities and urban events in the surroundings of the unique Salpausselkä UNESCO Global Geopark area where the whole landscape is created by water. The Lahti region offers a range of unique accommodations, including lakeside cottages, to make your visit unforgettable. With its easy accessibility from Helsinki the Lahti region is a perfect destination even for a short day trip.
The area of Lake Saimaa, Savonlinna, Mikkeli and Varkaus, is a paradise for people who love spending time in nature. During the summer you can move around by ships, boats, kayak or sup board. The forests and shores of Lake Saimaa call for hiking, biking, nature wellbeing or riding excursions. In the wintertime you can move around Lake Saimaa by skis, skates, snowshoes and bike. The spring time is the best time to see our endangered Saimaa Ringed Seal and in autumn we relax by picking-up the mushrooms and by having a break on a campfire. Savonlinna and Mikkeli regions are also culturally rich destinations. The Savonlinna Opera festival is a cultural event known across the world, held every July in Olavinlinna castle. In addition to opera, you can enjoy also the world famous Mikkeli Music Festival in August and both regions offers many other forms of live music, art, local food and history to anyone travelling here.
