Redrib Cottage Locals Experience

We meet 20 min. prior to departure at Vironallas, the leisure boat port in front of the old Market Hall on the Market Square, Kauppatori. First you will be given your passenger equipment for the tour. After a short safety briefing we leave for a cruise in the most beautiful archipelago on the west side of the city. You will see a lot of summer cabins, boaters and wildlife on our way to our destination. Everything explained by our driver and guide. After a 45 min cruise we reach our destination. On a beautiful island our hosts are waiting for us. On the smooth cliffs they welcome us to their very own and private summer cottage. Here they spend their whole holiday and go to the city only when they have to. This day they simply take a break from their holiday to welcome us. And they love to meet you! The lovely couple that speak Swedish and Finnish at home greets you in English, French or in German. On their island that has been in the same family ownership for over 100 years, you get an authentic glimpse in the daily life in the archipelago. Hear how they spend their long and sunny days off. Where the best fishing places are and how to prepare a perch. On the nature trail walk you hear everything about swimming moose and which berries and mushrooms to pick. All explained by the entertaining and very friendly hosts for this day. Their Scandinavian design cottages are open for you too. The older generation might pop by and tell you all about the area, leased as a Soviet naval base after World War II. You might meet some other members of the family on the island too!

Together with the hosts you can heat up the genuine wood heated cottage sauna. From the panoramic window you can see all the way to the Helsinki city center. A truly unique experience seen from this nature wonderland. Combine the sauna bath with a dip in the sea, just like the locals do. The Finnish sauna is a myth that is really true. You do not want to miss this opportunity, do you?

After the sauna the hosts will prepare a home made archipelago lunch. They are not only friendly, but are exceptional good chefs too! Simply sit on the warm cliffs and enjoy the lunch, just like everybody out here does. After the 2 hour visit with the family it is time to head back to the city.

Weather depending we take the secondary route in a more sporty fashion. We take an alternative inner route back, or if you want, we choose a speed route on open sea instead! A true adventure to remember! All, of course, depending on the passenger preferences on board.
