Plenty of new accommodations available in Finnish Lakeland
In November 2021 a total of 55,417 hotel rooms were available in Finland, according to Statistics Finland 4,757 more than a year earlier. And there is more to come.
In the Saimaa Lake region in eastern Finland, the adult-only Kuru Resort in Rantasalmi opened in December 2021 the first 8 villas. According to their website “Kuru is designed to be a place where the most important thing to do is nothing”. Set in the middle of a peaceful forest, the luxury retreat offers relaxing spa treatments, delicious food and guided relaxation classes. The guests stay at private Lake Villas with breathtaking scenic windows and a private Spa & Sauna in each unit. Further 8 villas will open during winter 2022. Our favorite detail: the breakfast is delivered to the villa to enjoy slow mornings.
Equally located in 3,400-inhabitant Rantasalmi, the established Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän will launch further 18 Panorama suites and 12 Forest suites during January 2022. All suites will be their own separate accommodation units equipped with an outdoor jacuzzi. In addition, the Panorama suites will have a sauna.
Hotel Rakuuna in Lappeenranta, currently located in the old garrison buildings dating back to the 1890s, will expand to the old spa building in the harbour in the coming summer. Also, spa treatments will again become available.
In Savonlinna Hotel Tott will be starting off into the summer season 2022 with new stylish apartments. The hotel that regularly operates only during the summer months, has embraced the trend of multi-locality and is currently building 48 high-quality, year-round long-term rentals on the hotel premises.
Located in the middle of three national parks and on the shores of Lake Pielinen, Break Sokos Hotel Bomba is currently undergoing refurbishment works. In summer 2021, the renovated family rooms and the meeting and lobby areas in the current main building of the spa hotel were inaugurated. During 2022 a completely new hotel wing will be completed including 93 Superior rooms with lake views, 6 meeting rooms and a new bistro restaurant. The adjacent Karelian village including the name giving Bomba House will be developed to a Karelian Center. Tulgua terveh – welcome in Karelian!
In the Jyväskylä Region in Central Finland the Varjola Resort has extended its’ offerings by 4 glass-roofed igloos that provide magnificent views of the surrounding lakes and nature.
Further north in Vuokatti, Hotelli Vuokatti Resort (information in Finnish) opened in summer 2021. Their hotel rooms accommodate 2-4 persons and the apartments with 2 or 3 bedrooms cater for larger parties of up to 6 persons.
In Finland’s 3rd largest city Tampere the new Lapland Hotels Arena was inaugurated in mid-December. A total of 273 hotel rooms are located in the new Nokia Arena. A peculiarity are rooms and private saunas with a balcony overlooking the event venue.
