1000 Lakes Workshop is an international sales event that takes place in heart of the Lakeland Finland, Savonlinna. Savonlinna, as a historical town, built up on the islands, surrounded by the unique lake scenery, provides the inspirational atmosphere for the networking and creating successful business. The event brings together international buyers and Finnish suppliers from the Lakeland region. The event week starts with pre tours for buyers and continues with 1000 Lakes Workshop on May 21th.

17.45 Drive to Riihimäki, Finnish Glass museum
The Finnish Glass Museum presents the history of glass dating back over 4,000 years and the 300-year history of Finland's glass industry. The collections consist mostly of Finnish household, design and art glass from the 18th-21th centuries.

The Finnish Glass Museum is situated near the old Riihimäki Glassworks (1919-1990). After the plant was closed, new firms and companies moved into the premises, including Lasismi Glass Studio and Mafka&Alakoski Glass Studio. Less than a kilometre from the Museum is Hyttikortteli, a housing area built for the glass workers in the 1910s.

9.00 Aulanko Nature Reserve area and guided tour
The forest park of Aulanko, its sights, and the view from the scenic lookout tower of Aulangonvuori Hill over the national landscape attract more than 400 000 visitors every year. The area is best suitable for day trips. The English-style park, which forms a part of the nature reserve, was constructed in 1883 - 1938 and, with its buildings and cultural history, it is a nationally valuable site.

10.00 Häme Castle
Häme Castle is a medieval castle in Hämeenlinna, Finland. The Castle was most likely built during the late 13th century to serve as military base in the border zone between Sweden and Novgorod. The castle is one of the main tourist attractions of southern Finland, being the centerpiece of the city and a popular venue for events, including renaissance fairs.

11.00 Tiirinkoski farm visit and light lunch
Tiirinkosken Tehdas in Hämeenlinna offers a warm atmosphere and a stunning countryside setting. Housed in a historic 1910 barn, it features a lifestyle shop and a cozy café known for its signature waffles made from the farm’s own fava bean flour. The farm has a long agricultural history and is home to heritage breeds such as Åland sheep, Gotland fur sheep, and Highland cattle, alongside grain and fava bean cultivation. Visitors can enjoy fresh farm products, including lamb and beef, as well as unique interior decor, clothing, and handcrafted wool items. A visit to Tiirinkosken Tehdas is well worth the trip!

13.00 Welcome to Tampere, check-in at Courtyard by Marriot hotel

13.30    A walk through the city center (A drive if rainy) to the Finlayson Area
On the way we will see the riverbanks of Tammerkoski rapids, visit the Tampere Cathedral, the Vapriikki Museum center and the Finlayson Area                     

16.00 Finnish people do a lot of crafts and appreciate traditions of hand crafts. We will have a moment of creativity and get introduced to Finnish traditions at Taitokeskus Verkaranta.  

18.00  When in Sauna Capital…

In the region, nearly 70 public saunas heat up year-round!

Tampere has been the Sauna Capital of the World since 2018. The title is earned through the region’s high-quality saunas and having the most public saunas in the whole of Finland. Additionally, Finland’s oldest still-operating public sauna can be found in Tampere. The Sauna Capital status was endorsed by the International Sauna Association and the Finnish Sauna Society.

10:15  Visit to Serlachius in Mänttä
In Mänttä, Serlachius offer a meeting place for art and stories, and people who value their high-quality. Two museums, in Joenniemi Manor and in the former Headquarters of the Serlachius Company, show works from Serlachius’ substantial art collection and temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. The story of the family of paper barons and Finnish paper industry is ever intriguing!

Serlachius is a sustainable cultural attraction amid most beautiful Finnish lakeside nature. Beside art, history and architecture our guests enjoy culinary and sauna experiences as well as heartfelt service – year round.

11.45 Drive to Hotel Keurusselkä (30 min). Welcome to the Jyväskylä Region!

12:15 Lunch at Hotel Keurusselkä
Hotel and Resort Keurusselkä is in Keuruu on the shore of the beautiful lake Keurusselkä. It is a combination of a traditional lake side hotel ’Keurusselkä’, a 50s style hotel ’Est. 1949’ and cottages. Keurusselkä can offer a wide variety of activities, such as SUP boards, tennis, PADEL, minigolf, paddling, cycling, minispa/pool area, saunas and wellness treatments. The restaurant offers local tastes with a spice of local history.

13:30 Drive to the UNESCO site Petäjävesi Old Church (30 min)

14:00 Guided tour at the Petäjävesi old Church
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Petäjävesi Old Church tells the story of the Finnish people’s everyday life over four centuries. Built by Central Finland’s land-owning peasants in 1763–65 with their masterful carving skills, the Old Church has been the site of the most profound moments of life. The church was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.

15:00 Drive to Aalto2 -museum (30 min)

The Aalto2 Museum Centre was opened to the public in the summer of 2023. The museum centre will encompass two separate museums: The Alvar Aalto Museum is the nationally designated museum of Alvar Aalto’s heritage of architecture and design.The Museum of Central Finland is the designated regional museum of Central Finland. Together these museums form a new museum hub focused on cultural heritage, the cultural environment, architecture, and design.

16.30 City tour by the bus
Surrounded by the Jyväsjärvi lake, the Harju ridge, the lively core of Jyväskylä is compact and easy to navigate. The pedestrian street offers a diverse range of services,  shopping centres, specialty storescafes, restaurants, cinemas and museums are all within walking distance in the car-free zone. During our short tour we will pass the Toivola Old court yard, the Old Vicarege, the Harju Ridge, and the Boutique Hotel Yöpuu

17:00  Site inspection at the Lutakko harbour Alvar Aalto’s boat Nemo Propheta in Patria and Sataman Viilu Sauna Restaurant
Lutakko Harbour is like a living room for locals. In winter the Lake Jyväsjärvi has an ice skating ring, and other possibilities for winter activities. In summer it is full of boats, water activities, and events.

17:30  Dinner at the Sataman Viilu
Viilu is a brand-new Sauna-Restaurant combination in the port of Jyväskylä, which opened in June 2022. 

20:00  Check in to the Revontuli Resort, accommodation in Igloos
Revontuli – The Northern Lights Resort is a year-round holiday centre in Hankasalmi in the darkest place of whole Southern Finland. The resort is a perfect place for a little pampering, because you can sleep under the stars in luxurious glass igloos, get comfy in holiday cabins, experience the authentic Finnish Sauna in a sauna world and treat yourself with seasonal culinary dishes.

22:00 Possibility to have evening sauna
There are about 140,000 saunas in the Jyväskylä Region, which is the Sauna Region of the World since 2015. In the Sauna Region, you can enjoy diverse sauna experiences, get to know the colourful history of the sauna, and celebrate the annual Sauna Region week. You’ll also be able to find a number of globally renowned sauna industry companies.

15.00 Cruise on Lake Saimaa by M/S Elviira
Spring is the best time to spot an endangered Saimaa ringed seal and our ship will cruise us to the direction of Linnansaari National Park, which is one of the best areas to see this cute creature. We’ll even end up to the secret nature harbor, in where the seals have been seen several times.

17.30 Arrival in the nature harbor of Illikka, in where the “Metsänpirkko” welcomes us to be her guest. She will lead you to the secrets of the forest and you will leave this beautiful place with happy memories!

19.00 Departure by bus for Putkisalo Manor, which is also a lovely sheep farm 
                  
19:30 Arrival in historical Putkisalo Manor, in where you can admire the charming landscapes, meet the cute sheeps, horses and dogs, and especially enjoy the delicacies made by DO Saimaa chef Ilkka Arvola. Ilkka uses only the local ingredients in his cooking and is one of the most respected chefs in the area.

During this tour you will have a chance to see some of the hidden places of the castle, in where you can’t get to on a normal guided tour. (Walking time from Spahotel Casino ca. 15 min and from Original Sokos Hotel Seurahuone ca. 10 min.)
